The Collection Process – A Lot for €50

Step 1 Day 1: The day we receive your collection voucher a first demand is served advising your debtor we are under instruction to recover the debt and failure to respond will result in further documents being served.

Step 2 Day 7: A stronger second demand is served informing the debtor that failure to settle the account immediately may result in an adverse credit rating and/or legal action being taken.

Step 3 Day 13: Personal contact is made with your debtor by way of phone. They are advised that payment must be made in 24 hours or a Notice of Intention to Issue Legal Proceedings will be prepared for service.

Step 4 Day 14: If payment has not been made 7 days from the second letter of Demand, a formal Notice of Intention to Issue Legal Proceedings is served on your debtor.

Step 5 Day 20: If payment has not been made within 6 days of the Notice being served, personal contact is made again. They are informed that legal action will be commencing.

Step 6 Day 21: Final demand will be served to your debtor. Our preparation allows you to take legal action to seek judgment or committal without further delay.

Step 7 EC Credit Control will then complete Due Diligence and make a recommendation on the value of pursuing the debt through the courts. If the debt is collected via the courts EC Credit Control will receive no commission whatsoever.

Generally the collection process is not followed through to the end as the debtor either makes payment after the first or second demands, or a suitable arrangement for payment is made during the personal contact stage.

Using the on-line services is fantastic. I can print reports and check the status of my debts easily and quickly.
